Director Dorothy Henderson is a huge fan of Ray Cooney's plays, and when she heard that he had written his first musical, she made it her business to snap up the performing rights as soon as they were available. This riotous time-travelling adventure followed property lawyer Steven Tancred as he unexpectedly regressed to a previous existence in 1920's Chicago as Johnny May, a reluctant gangster who fell in love with nightclub singer Ruby, girlfriend of the notorious Bugs Moran.
