With a record 94% of seats sold, and 2 of the 4 performances complete sell-outs, the season was a resounding success! 23 actors (24 if you include Bacardi the snake) in 11 plays directed by 7 directors - a 2-hour smorgasbord of variety that saw nearly 600 people entertained during the 3-day season. Around 40 people were directly involved in directing / performing / lighting / sound / costuming / staging, not to mention our front-of-house and box office volunteers. The season saw 4 original works performed, 3 of them written locally, and a mix of first-time & seasoned directors, and actors ranging in age from 13 to 75! Themes included marriage, divorce, children, snakes, hypnotism, love, family, gossip, fantasy, isolation, regret - lots of humour, and a touch of pathos: something for everybody! Some of our directors were also our actors, and some of our actors appeared in more than one play - some directors also directed more than 1 play. Plays ranged in length from 3 minutes to 20 minutes, and in cast size from one to eight. All plays used the same set, creatively re-arranged and augmented with props, costumes, lights & sound to provide an array of settings from a park to a house, a gym, a bus stop, a bar, a kindergarten, a church, an office, a wedding reception and an imaginary world: and each transition between plays was performed in 30 seconds to keep the show moving - and keep the audience entertained and involved! What will 2011 bring - you'll have to come along and see, won't you!
